HQ.training vs TrueCoach
One flat price instead of a price per client
TrueCoach is a mature strength-coaching app that charges by how many clients you have. HQ costs $19 a month however many athletes you coach, and adds endurance training: zones, structured intervals and fitness, fatigue and form.

The short version
HQ is the better pick if
- You coach more than a handful of people and don’t want the bill to rise with each one.
- Your athletes run, ride, swim or race, and need targets in watts, heart rate and pace.
- You want fitness, fatigue and form for every athlete, from what they actually did.
- You sell plans or videos and want to keep the money: HQ takes no cut, TrueCoach Payments takes 5% of each payment.
TrueCoach is the better pick if
- You coach strength only and want its 3,000+ demo videos and years of polish.
- You write meal plans, or your clients log food in MyFitnessPal on Android: HQ reads it through Apple Health, so on iPhone only.
- Your clients need an Android app today.
- You need Zapier.

What sets them apart
What a growing roster costs
At 50 clients TrueCoach is $164.98 a month on monthly billing, and a team pays for every client across all its coaches. HQ is $19 at 5 athletes and at 500, and the athletes stay free.
Endurance is built in
Type 5x (4m @ 95-105% FTP, 2m easy) and each athlete sees their own watt range, then downloads the session for the watch. TrueCoach’s documentation covers timers and heart-rate notes, not zone targets, training load or watch files.
Wearable data you can coach from
TrueCoach brings in three numbers from a wearable: sleep, resting heart rate and steps. HQ brings in the sessions themselves, with heart rate, power, pace and GPS, along with HRV, sleep and weight.
Payments
TrueCoach Payments takes a flat 5% of every payment and $15 per chargeback. HQ’s store adds nothing to Stripe’s own card fee, and the money goes to your Stripe account. Both bill a monthly subscription or a one-time payment.

Questions
- Is HQ cheaper than TrueCoach?
- At every roster size on the published prices. TrueCoach starts at $29.98 a month for 5 clients and reaches $164.98 for 50 on monthly billing. HQ is $19 a month for any number, or $39 with more AI.
- Can I import my TrueCoach programs?
- Not as files: TrueCoach exports workouts as plain text. Rebuild them in HQ’s builder, where typing a session in shorthand is the quick way in.
- Does HQ do nutrition?
- The parts a coach checks in on: daily and weekly habits with streaks, calorie and macro targets, and a food log athletes fill in on Today or bring in from MyFitnessPal and other food apps through Apple Health on iPhone. You see the food log only when the athlete shares it. There are no meal plans or recipes.
- Do my clients pay?
- Not on either. On HQ each athlete keeps a free account of their own, which stays theirs if they stop working with you.
