HQ.training vs Magicline

Built for a gym that coaches its members

Magicline, from Hamburg’s Sport Alliance, runs German gym contracts end to end, with SEPA runs, fee factoring, certified tills and access hardware, for chains such as McFIT and FitX. It costs €189 to €699 a month net per location on a 12-month term. HQ is $59 a month, monthly or yearly, and puts coaching and members’ wearable data next to the timetable.

What this page says about Magicline comes from Magicline’s own pricing page, terms (GTC) and help center, read on 13 October 2026. Prices and features change, so check theirs before you decide.

The short version

HQ is the better pick if

  • You run one gym or studio and don’t want a 12-month contract that can only be cancelled in writing.
  • You want the member app included: Magicline’s MySports app is €149 a month below Ultimate.
  • Your trainers write plans with members’ Garmin, Apple Health, Oura or WHOOP data beside them.
  • Your price shouldn’t ratchet up with your peak member count and never come back down.

Magicline is the better pick if

  • You sell fixed-term contracts and need SEPA runs, fee factoring and debt collection.
  • You need turnstiles and readers from FEIG, Gantner or PS-Tec.
  • You need a TSE or RKSV-compliant till and DATEV.
  • You run a chain or several locations.
  • You want AI that contacts lapsing members by WhatsApp, SMS or email.

What sets them apart

What one gym pays

With up to 500 members on fixed-term contracts, Magicline Basic is €189 a month net per location, and the MySports member app adds €149 unless you take Ultimate at €699. HQ is $59 a month, and members use the HQ app free.

Contract terms

Magicline’s terms set a 12-month minimum that renews for 12, cancellation in writing (email doesn’t count), a tier set by your peak member count with no reduction, and price rises of up to 8% a year without a right to cancel. HQ is monthly or yearly, and you cancel from the billing page.

What members do outside the gym

Magicline’s training world is built for plans on the gym floor. HQ adds what members do outside: runs, rides and swims from their watch, HRV and sleep from their ring, and fitness, fatigue and form from all of it.

Where Magicline is ahead

German contract billing with SEPA, fee factoring and collections, certified access hardware, compliant tills, chains and AI outreach. A gym that sells fixed-term contracts in Germany needs much of that, and HQ doesn’t have it yet.

Moving from Magicline

  1. Export your data

Magicline’s data export, under Settings, Studio, Data protection, includes contacts, contracts, mandates and history. Download it within 30 days of requesting it.

  2. Give notice in writing

One month before your term ends, in written form: Magicline’s terms say email doesn’t count. After you end, data comes only on written request, for 4 weeks.

  3. Start on HQ

Gym & Studio is 14 days free, then $59 a month or $590 a year, with no contract to sign.

Questions

Does HQ handle German membership contracts?
Partly. HQ bills memberships by card through Stripe, with freezes, cancellations and plan changes. It has no SEPA direct debit, fee factoring or debt collection, which most German contract gyms rely on.
Is HQ priced in euros?
Not yet. HQ’s own plans are billed in US dollars. The prices you charge your members can be in euros.
Does HQ work with my turnstiles?
Not with FEIG, Gantner or PS-Tec. HQ connects to Kisi only: a gym links its own Kisi account in Settings, and members open Kisi doors with the Kisi app while their membership is in good standing. Without Kisi, members check in by name or QR card at the desk, or check themselves in.
